What You'll Do
- Design, build, and improve cloud infrastructure solutions that power our production environment.
- Implement and manage AWS-based infrastructure, focusing on scalability, reliability, and security.
- Operate and optimize Kubernetes clusters in production, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning and management.
- Enhance observability and monitoring for infrastructure health and performance using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Optimize networking solutions, including service meshes (like Istio) to improve service-to-service communication and security.
- Support and enhance database infrastructure, ensuring reliability and scalability for both SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL Aurora, Redis, and DynamoDB.
- Collaborate with the Staff Infrastructure Engineer and engineering teams to deliver infrastructure improvements aligned with business and engineering priorities.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis, helping to build more resilient systems.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and high-availability strategies, leveraging chaos engineering principles where applicable.
- Advocate for best practices in infrastructure design, automation, performance tuning, and security.
- 6 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure in a production environment.
- 6 years managing AWS infrastructure, with deep experience in core AWS services.
- 4 years of experience operating Kubernetes in production, including cluster management and workload optimization.
- Strong proficiency in Terraform (or other IaC tools), with experience in creating reusable modules and enforcing infrastructure best practices.
- Experience managing cloud networking solutions, including working with VPCs, load balancers, and service meshes (e.g., Istio).
- Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL Aurora, Redis, and DynamoDB.
- Proficiency in system monitoring and observability, with experience in tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, working effectively across teams.
- A strong sense of ownership and urgency, with a drive to continuously improve systems and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications such as CKA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional)
- Track record of managing mission-critical, 24x7 production software systems
