Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AWS / GCP Cloud Architect to join our team supporting the Department of State's ADD program . The ideal candidate will have expertise in AWS cloud solutions , with experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing secure, scalable cloud infrastructure while ensuring alignment with compliance and security requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Deployment
- Design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS , with support for any existing GCP assets.
- Develop and optimize solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency .
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to automate deployments.
Security & Compliance
Ensure compliance with federal security standards , including NIST 800-53 , FedRAMP , and DISA STIGs .Implement and maintain robust security measures, including IAM, encryption protocols, network policies , and data protection strategies.DevOps & Automation
Design and manage CI / CD pipelines to automate application deployment and infrastructure management.Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate best practices and maintain high standards for cloud security and performance.Hybrid Cloud Integration & Support
Support hybrid cloud environments by integrating on-premises systems with AWS and / or GCP .Utilize AWS IAM, Active Directory , and other identity platforms for seamless integration and identity management.Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor and analyze infrastructure using tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Cloud Monitoring , and other solutions.Optimize resource utilization and enhance system performance through strategic cloud management.Troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.Qualifications
Required :
Active Secret Clearance (TS preferred).5 years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering, with a strong focus on AWS solutions.Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation , or similar.Expertise in CI / CD pipelines , DevOps processes, and security automation.Advanced knowledge of cloud security practices and identity and access management (IAM) configurations.Familiarity with U.S. government compliance standards, including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53 , and DISA STIGs .Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, particularly in high-stakes production environments.Preferred :
Experience supporting federal agencies, particularly with the Department of State or other highly regulated environments.Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect , AWS Security Specialty , or equivalent GCP certifications.Experience managing hybrid cloud environments and integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud platforms.Proficiency with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes .Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role , requiring three days onsite at the Washington, DC office and remote work for the remaining two days per week.
