TITLE: Nurse Practitioner
LOCATION: North Carolina – Western/Central Region (Caldwell, Iredell, Hickory, Catawba Counties, ETC.)
IMS CORRECTIONAL HEALTHCARE OVERVIEW:
IMS Correctional Healthcare, LLC (“IMS”) is a correctional healthcare services company focused on providing medical care services to county and municipal correctional facilities in North Carolina. IMS serves county correctional facilities that typically range from 100 – 1,000 bed capacity and differentiates itself based on its level of customer service, quality care, clinical outcomes and overall operational transparency to the customers it serves.
OBJECTIVE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
IMS is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the IMS healthcare team and assist the supervising physician in
providing care to customer facilities in the Eastern Region of North Carolina. A Nurse Practitioner on the healthcare team will regularly commute to in-region customer facilities and is responsible for the following:
· Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations, and care.
· Perform chronic care, sick call, and urgent care services as needed.
· Must have the availability to be on-call for phone consultations for the facility clinical and correctional staff.
· Write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings. Records must be clear and accurate.
· Counsel patients and provides education concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
· Provide treatment on-site and respond appropriately in emergency situations, including referrals to specialists and hospitals.
· Maintain patient confidentiality as it relates to federal and state health information and privacy laws.
· Follow and uphold proper protocols, procedures, and security measures laid forth by detention center staff at all times in the workplace.
· Where necessary, act as an educational resource for detention center staff to ensure all medical requirements and restrictions are understood.
· Provide on-call services to assist facility clinical and correctional staff as needed, including after hours, weekends, and holidays. Services performed while on-call may encompass all of the above-mentioned responsibilities.
· Must communicate and consult with supervising physician regularly and as needed.
· Must be willing and able to travel to assigned facilities.
· Other medical related duties as recommended by the supervising physician.
In the event that additional nurses or other healthcare staff are hired to assist in new customer coverage, the
Nurse Practitioner may be responsible for training, supervising, and ensuring each of such individuals follow all proper workplace procedures within the scope of the practice.
Please note, the majority of on-call services required for this role consists of phone triage.
Education & Certifications · Graduate from an accredited nursing school program. · Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state. · Current CPR certification
Experience: · Minimum of one years’ experience (five or more years’ experience preferred) · Prior correctional/detention facility experience preferred · Proficiency with electronic medical records preferred
Compensation: · Base salary compensation to be commensurate with experience · Annual performance bonus based on individual performance against planned objectives and the overall company performance · Health and retirement benefits provided
