The Event Staging Technical Engineer is a senior-level support role that will assist the Audio Director in designing, engineering, and ensuring quality execution of AV systems for live events. This position requires extensive technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality event experiences. The Technical Engineer collaborates with the Audio Director, department directors, and production teams to develop and execute event designs that meet IMS's stringent quality standards. The position is required to report to the Linwood Office five days a week.
Position Accountabilities and Expectations:
- Collaborate with the Audio Director and Production Managers to translate conceptual designs into operational plans for event production.
- Use finalized designs to create and adjust quotes and produce detailed documentation.
- Maintain and update Vectorworks templates and processes in collaboration with the Audio Director and Creative Director.
- Assist the Audio Director in prepping and configuring event systems prior to events.
- Test equipment and conduct mock setups in-house to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Build and assess new system designs and provide clear instructions for on-site technicians.
- Exhibit strong leadership by supporting teams and ensuring effective communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain and update schedules, tasks, and event-related activities in Outlook.
- Conduct site surveys as needed to assess event requirements.
- Provide QC level support and repairs.
- Train technicians on applicable skills and equipment.
- Provide remote support for technicians during on-site event execution.
What you will bring:
- 8 years of experience in live event systems and signal workflows. A college degree in a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in Vectorworks Spotlight. Mastery of presentation tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Keynote, is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in AV systems, including signal processing and event workflows.
- Mastery of AV hardware and signal flows.
- Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting AV systems for live events.
- In-depth understanding of projection systems, video processors, audio mixers, microphones, lighting fixtures, and Dante networking.
- Proven experience with AV hardware and software systems, including projection, screens, video processors, playback software, audio mixers, microphones, Dante networking, and DMX lighting systems.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using MS Office Suite and both PC and Mac systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven history of excellent internal and external customer service.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and have a current driver’s license.
