Position Overview
This role requires working across technical and customer domains in a variety of physical environments both remotely and at the job site. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to customer calls for service, identifying and troubleshooting controls system hardware, software, and telemetry issues, and resolving those issues. Daily activities of this technically focused role include, but are not limited to, programming software applications for controls systems, completing checkouts of manufactured control equipment, and commissioning control systems at the customer’s site.
This position offers competitive pay and an excellent comprehensive benefits package. This position will be on call periodically and regional travel with likely overnight stays is required (up to 75%). Additionally, periodic company-paid travel to our Fridley, MN headquarters is expected.
Responsibilities and Duties
- - Review electrical schematics, network diagrams, and process instrumentation.
- - Troubleshoot and remedy customers’ malfunctioning controls equipment, communications systems (including radios), and Program Logic Controller (PLC) software.
- - Modify control system logic and visualization using PLC and HMI software.
- Review controls system design and operation documentation provided to customer.
- - Perform testing and checkout of control equipment and software.
- - Field start-up and commissioning of controls systems at customer site.
- - Act as customer’s primary point of contact for service work.
- - Report work progress and complete Service Reports (SRs).
- - Work collaboratively with the Sales, Design, Manufacturing, and Engineering Teams to ensure successful completion of each project.
- - Project coordination and communication internally within In Control and externally with customers, construction contractors, consulting engineers, vendors, and other partners.
- - Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- - Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and sharp attention to detail and organization.
- - Experience in application programming and integration across a variety of hardware/software platforms.
- - Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communications skills with coworkers and customers.
- - Two-year degree in relevant technical field and two years’ experience in control system programming. Additional years’ experience may substitute for formal technical education.
- - Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites in Western South Dakota, Western North Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming.
- - Comfortable working in the field at customer locations and in a variety of construction site conditions.

Technical Capabilities
- - Proficiency programming and commissioning Rockwell Automation products and/or Schneider, GE, etc. required.
- - PLC programming experience with Rockwell CompactLogix and MicroLogix strongly preferred.
- - OIT and SCADA programming experience with FactoryTalk View ME/SE preferred.
- - Working knowledge of electrical control panel design, MCC’s, VFD’s, and process instrumentation preferred.
- - Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project).

Pay: $23.00 - $33.00 per hour
