What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Protection and Safety Officer position at In Control LLC?
This position is for a full-time Life Safety Officer and Emergency Response Technician working at the Merck facility in Elkton, Virginia. This position is with In Control, LLC but will report directly to the Merck Emergency Services Manager and In Control Site Supervisor. In Control, LLC is a preferred vendor of Merck and Company, and have been working together for over a decade. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Responsibilities
This position has many responsibilities including, but not limited to, being a member of the emergency response organization to ensure compliance with all on-site, local, state, and federal agencies. Other responsibilities are on-site security, loss prevention, emergency fire and medical response, project support, operate electronic monitoring systems, and facility maintenance. In addition, you will be responsible for various inspections, testing, and compliance of fire and life safety systems. Candidate will also review safety permits for various locations on-site in many different working environments.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have and maintain a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician though the state of Virginia, CPR/AED through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, Firefighter I and HAZMAT Operations through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, and ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800. Virginia EVOC Class III preferred.
Personal qualities include good written and verbal communication skills, professional behavior, computer skills, telephone and hand-held radio skills, Microsoft Office, and online web-based training skills. Candidate must be one who is self-motivated and require limited supervision when necessary. Must have good documentation skills and able to process paperwork when needed. Must be able to follow written policies and procedures.
Candidate must have a clean driving record and pass a drug screen, background check, and physical.
