Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer – Job Summary
Seeking a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer with expertise in mechanical engineering, condition and performance monitoring, and the maintenance of high-speed turbo equipment. This role involves managing rotating equipment projects to improve safety and reliability, providing technical support, and implementing reliability strategies such as real-time vibration and lubrication analysis. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with API & ANSI pumps, large steam turbines, and centrifugal compressors.
The ideal candidate will come from a chemical manufacturing environment and have experience with larger equipment typically found in ethylene, LNG, methanol or ammonia production plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues using engineering knowledge.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability and investigate incidents.
- Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for rotating equipment failures.
- Optimize performance through vibration analysis, lubrication strategies, and reliability tracking.
- Partner with vendors to resolve technical problems and explore new solutions.
- Develop and review repair scopes for outages and turnaround events.
- Assist in commissioning, performance analysis, and design review to enhance equipment efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with reliability and maintenance best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering required.
- Experience: 10 years in the chemical, continuous process industry.
- Certifications: CMRP or CRL preferred; PE license is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, root cause analysis, and asset risk management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and System 1 EVO.
- Key Abilities: Problem-solving, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and excellent communication skills.
Work Environment
- Split between office and field work, with exposure to industrial equipment and moderate noise levels.
- Requires use of proper safety equipment.
- Minimal travel (less than 10%).
Additional Requirements
- Must obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Must be self-motivated, capable of independent problem-solving, and willing to engage in hands-on fieldwork.
