Duties & Responsibilities:

The Plant Controller is responsible for all accounting activities at the 2 Coldwater Michigan locations within the Real Alloy NA Business Unit. The role is a hands-on role, accountable for the direction and supervision of the accounting functions as well as assisting in operational support activities.

• Responsible for the preparation and direction of the ongoing activities associated with daily accounting procedures, the monthly close process, and the annual close within our Oracle and Hyperion accounting software.
• Prepare annual and monthly budgets/forecasts and related financial analyses in the preparation of various accounting deliverables.
• Interact with plant management, BU management and corporate staff on financial, accounting, and administrative matters. Respond to data/financial requests as needed.
• Provide technical direction for the accounts payable and receivable functions including customer invoicing, P.O. and vendor invoice processing, receipt of goods and related activities. Review account coding and assist in new vendor adds.
• Reconcile raw material flow from receipts, through the production process to finished goods and then to the customers and its associated costing.
• In adherence with company policy co-lead quarterly physical inventory and oversee quarterly spare parts and asset inventories.
• Prepare monthly and annual Sales Tax return information and assist with other corporate Tax requirements.
• Lead the preparation process and pre-review of all ACR/AFE’s for capital improvement projects and submit for approval. Role is also responsible to audit, track, and report the project spend and KPI’s.
• Assist with activities for plant and corporate internal, external, government, and banking audits. Adherence to SOX narratives and compliance as well as Real Alloy internal controls
• Participate in plant productivity activities to use standard calculations and reporting for the plant savings initiatives.
• This role oversees two recycling plants across the street from each other with common management and has 1 direct report.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 4-5 years’ experience in a similar finance or controller leadership role. An advanced degree is a plus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced skills required in MS Excel, with high proficiency in MS Word and other MS Office software. Experience in Oracle (cloud or on-prem) and/or Hyperion a plus.
• Proven ability to function with minimal supervision while also leading others toward plant and company goals. Results and detail oriented.
• Creativity and/and openness for implementation of new procedures or programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Willingness to be part of a team mentality and approach for the North American business unit.
• Ability to plan and organize effectively and efficiently to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Some occasional travel may be required. (5%)
