Role Description The Med Tech Transport Specialist will be responsible for scheduling the medical/dental appointments for the people we support in a timely fashion and provide transportation to the appropriate health care providers. As well as the responsibility for documentation and excellent communication. They are responsible for ensuring that services are provided within the standards established by the departments and the agency. They must understand, be committed to, and respect the people being served, their family members and the agency’s mission. They are responsible to ensure that the services provided are geared to promote personal growth, skill acquisition, and community inclusion. These services must be meaningful to the people served and encourage and respect their choices. Hours are variable based on the needs of the person receiving services. DSP responsibilities will be utilized as needed and are a requirement of the position. The main responsibilities are to ensure that all appointments are completed.
Note: The Medical Transporter assigned will start work at 7am and assist with the passing of medications as needed. When assignment is completed, including the monitoring and management of medications for the home, the MT/DSP will assist the individual’s morning routine as needed including with ADLs. The Med Tech Transport Specialist/DSP will not be assigned anyone that has heightened supervision such as one to one. Once the individuals leave for the program the MT/DSP will transfer to the nursing department to begin transporting them to medical appointments.
Qualifications -High School Diploma or GED. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT The employee agrees to comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the position. All staff must pass all NYS Justice Center Background Check Requirements, and Physical. In addition, the employee has a duty to report any suspected violations of the law (including any motor vehicle infractions) to the Human Resources Department.
