What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver position at In Home Support Services (IHSS)?
I am looking for a reliable, patient, and compassionate caregiver for myself. This position is for a part-time weekend provider. Must be eligible to be an IHSS/WPCS caregiver and demonstrate knowledge about infection control. You will be working in a home healthcare setting. I do not require you to be vaccinated against COVID 19, but do request that you demonstrate knowledge on safety precautions to prevent infection. The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication skills. You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help. All training will be provided to you upon hire. No drinking, drugs, smoking/vaping. I am not 420 friendly. Must have your own reliable vehicle and be in good health. Must be dog friendly.
Due to my current medical condition, this job requires continuous sanitization of the household, you will be trained on cross contamination as it is a necessity for this position. An N95 mask is required.
I’m 61 years old with limited mobility. I am able to toilet myself. I am able to transfer myself to my wheelchair. I do need someone to stay their entire shift and be ready to work as needed, to help get my food, help with paperwork, take me to the park in my wheelchair, etc.
- Assist client with personal care and hygiene
- Prepare meals/light cooking for client
- Shopping/errands
- Assist with housekeeping duties (home is under 1100 ft.²) - vacuum, mop, dust, laundry, linen change, clean bathrooms
- Be a pleasant and supportive companion
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
- Proven experience as a caregiver
- Knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR) - Nice to have, but not required
- Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
