Summary
Responsible for all aspects of assigned welding projects (jobs) either in-house or at customer site.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Perform in-house welding to support internal or external projects.
- Perform field (on-site) welding to support customer jobs.
- Under limited technical supervision, performs moderate/complex welding.
- Be an active participant planning and mobilizing field welding projects to ensure proper equipment is supplied to the customer's job.
- Design weldments based on immediate needs of the field machinist or engineering department.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality workmanship
- Complete appropriate paperwork as required
- Provide feedback to improve programs, processes, tooling etc
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area
- Perform shop duties as directed and required.
Requirements
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education
- High school diploma or GED/HSED, required
- Journeyman welder or 2-year technical degree, strongly preferred
- American Weld Society (ASW) Certification, strongly preferred
- ASME Certification, preferred
- Level I or II NDT training (VT/MT/PT), preferred
Experience & Skills
- Four to six years of progressively responsible related experience. Specifically, this position requires:
- Extensive experience (4-6 years) in two or more (GMAW, FCAW or TIG) type(s) of welding which includes all applicable materials.
- Experience in a job shop or field environment, preferred
- Extensive ability to perform Out of Position (Vertical Up, Overhead, Angle, etc) welding
- Ability to weld solid backed weldments
- Ability to open root weld
- Ability to bore weld, preferred
- Ability to plasma arc cutting and gouging, preferred
- Ability to carbon arc gouging, preferred
- Knowledge and experience with AWS and ASME welding codes
- Extensive knowledge, understanding and ability to read and interpret welding symbols
- Ability to read and interpret weld prints & mechanical drawings
- Experience working with and developing weld fixturing
- Experience in low volume and high mix environment
- Mechanical aptitude
- Experience machining, preferred
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, weld procedure specifications (WPS), production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

- Frequently lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs)

- Frequently use portable hand power tools (angle grinder, drill, power hammer, etc.)
- Respirator fit testing and use may be required
- Specific vision abilities: include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, fumes, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment or a customer site both indoors and outdoors. Will spend a minimal amount of time outdoors in hot, cold, or otherwise inclement weather during part of the workweek.

- Valid driver’s license, required
- Successful completion of IPM Overhead Crane Training, required
- Successful completion of IPM’s Forklift Training, required
- Valid Forklift license, required
- Travel Time – up to 50% (daily, overnight and weekends)
- Travel Locations: jobs sites (domestic and international) and company facilities
- Ability to utilize multiple mobile apps for time sheet entry, travel, expense reporting, etc
