Description
Industry Sales Engineer is responsible for managing all sales engineering actions required to execute and deliver orders within an assigned Industry (Hydro-Electric, Military, Mining, Steel/Forgings, Power, etc).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Be an active participant in developing, implementing, and achieving the annual budget.
- Be an active participant in developing, implementing, and achieving key initiatives.
- Be an active participant in developing regional maps identifying a comprehensive list of existing and potential customers within the assign industry.
- Be an active participant in developing a comprehensive strategy for short, medium and long-term sales within the assigned industry.
- Understand and develop a comprehensive list of services to be provided.
- Be an active participant working with Marketing to develop to develop quarterly targeted regional campaigns, tradeshow organization & provide ongoing competitor & IPM customer feedback.
- Maintain existing and establish new customers in targeted industry and service.
- Establish and maintain professional customer/vendor relationships with appropriate personnel.
- Facilitate communication between quoting and estimating, scheduling and logistics, engineering, as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
- Initiate and support the quoting and estimating for work that pertains to the assigned industry.
- Introduce and position In-Place Machining Company as the technical leader in Field Machining services through the presentation of the company value proposition.
- Secure RFQs from existing and potential customers through on-site sales meetings, introductory presentations at the customers facility.
- Understand and communicate the needs of the customer to IPM technical team.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of quotes and follow up proactively on those quotes with customers.
- Develop presentations and marketing materials for customers both internal and external.
- Resolve customer complaints.
- Keep management informed of industry trends and monitor competitor activities.
- Maintain and expand professional/technical knowledge.
Requirements
Qualifications

Education
- High school diploma or GED/HSED, required
- Journeyman, 2-year technical degree or 2-year associates degree, preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, engineering, communications, preferred.
- Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience & Skills
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible related experience. Specifically, this position requires:
- At least IPM Sales Engineer – Senior status
- Extensive knowledge of assigned industry.
- Excellent professional communication, organizational, follow-through, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, self-starter, with a personable and extroverted personality.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced, multi-faceted working environment.
- Aptitude for comprehending technical information.
- Flexibility and availability to interact with internal and external customers at all levels.
- Takes the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for solutions.
- Ability to think ahead 3 years and develop strategy for sustainable growth.

- Solid mechanical aptitude.
- Conversant in reading and understanding customer drawings, including GD&T callouts
- Proficient computer-based skills - Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical fundamental concepts of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Occasionally lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs)
- Occasionally use portable hand power tools (angle grinder, drill, power hammer, etc.)
- Respirator fit testing and use may be required
- Specific vision abilities: include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, fumes, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment or at a customer site both indoors and outdoors. Will spend a minimal amount of time outdoors in hot, cold, or otherwise inclement weather during part of the workweek.
