We’re Hiring: Two Counselors (Adult Adolescent Focus) – On-Site, 3-4 Days/Week
- Prince George’s County, MD | Optional PRN Remote Day
- Pay: $30–$40/hour based on license and experience
Are you a grounded, compassionate counselor who knows how to connect—whether it’s with a teen trying to make sense of their world, or an adult rebuilding life after substance use or gambling?
In The Gap Academy is expanding and hiring two counselors to join our mission-driven team. One of these roles will be the primary counselor for adolescents (ages 13–18), while the other will primarily serve adults. All counselors must be comfortable working with both populations.
We’re an outpatient, community-based treatment program serving people impacted by trauma, incarceration, and substance use. Our clients are resilient, our team is supportive, and our work is deeply meaningful.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide individual and group counseling to clients with substance use and gambling disorders
- Manage a balanced caseload of adult and adolescent clients
- Develop treatment plans, document services, and maintain clinical compliance
- Work closely with a small, supportive team of peers and leadership
- Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive care
Your Schedule:
- On-site 3-4 days per week (required)
- Option for additional PRN day worked remotely
- Preferred working hours: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree required (in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field)
- Master’s degree preferred
- Active Maryland license required: LCPC, LMSW, LCSW-C, LCADC or CAC-AD, CSC-AD, ADT
- Minimum 1 year of experience in substance use treatment (required)
- 2 years preferred, especially with adolescent populations
- Approved Supervisor for Alcohol & Drug counselors – preferred but not required - pay will increase if you provide superivsion
