Recovery Coach - Peer Specialist (Women’s Treatment Court House)
Reports to: Program Supervisor
Position Overview:
The TCEP Recovery Coach, also known as Peer Specialist, plays a vital role in supporting residents, referred from the Treatment Court, as they fulfill their legal obligations. The TCEP Recovery Coach will collaborate efficiently and effectively with Treatment Court staff to ensure referrals to the program and the success of the TCEP residents. Utilizing their own lived experience and recovery, Peer Specialists empower others through shared understanding, guidance and respect. By providing support outside of clinical settings, Peer Specialists aim to reduce relapse and re-engagement in the criminal legal system. Certification as a MRSS or CPS is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
· Resident Support:
o Ensure participants have a clean, safe, and supportive environment.
o Address resident issues and concerns promptly and with empathy.
o Overseeing residents to ensure compliance with programming guidelines and requirements.
o Engage in conflict resolution to address interpersonal issues or barriers to progress.
· Treatment Court:
o Advocating on behalf of residents with regards to the judicial system, ensuring that their needs are met.
o Collaborate with the treatment court system by regularly attending staffings and court proceedings to assess resident requirements and court mandates.
o Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of resident progress, including coaching notes, recovery plans, drug screening results and discharge plans in compliance with TCEP grant requirements.
o Demonstrate a commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in all interactions with participants and stakeholders.
o Providing information about community resources, stability, and life skills.
o Conduct formalized motivational interviewing-based peer coaching sessions to support individuals in their recovery journey.
· Administrative Duties:
o Schedule coaching sessions and meet with residents regularly, as required.
o Responsible for meeting deadlines.
o Maintain all necessary documentation, including ensuring timely and accurate documentation of resident and/or group activities.
Skills:
· Apply evidence-based recovery tools effectively to boost recovery capital.
· Employ Motivational Interviewing and Change Talk techniques to foster intrinsic motivation.
· Assess recovery capital accurately to tailor person-centered recovery plans, aiding program participants in achieving their individualized needs and short- and long-term goals.
· Implement contingency management principles adeptly to support positive behavioral changes.
· Utilize the Stages of Change and Readiness for Change models in evidence-based coaching interventions.
· Exhibit strong teamwork by actively engaging, providing valuable input, and ensuring the in2Action team remains well-informed.
Qualifications:
· Applicants should have a minimum of one year of sustained recovery and must have been released from incarceration for at least one year.
· Possess certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
· Experience working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system, particularly those referred from the treatment court.
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Basic proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and electronic documentation systems.
· Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of residents and program requirements.
· Excellent communication with an emphasis on relationship-building
Physical/Mental Requirements:
· Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and lift as needed.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism when working with residents experiencing mental health concerns and /or exhibiting escalating behaviors.
· Willingness to adapt to the demands of residents and the community.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
