Title : Jr. Patient Financial Services / Claims / Biller
Location : Newton, MA-Onsite
Duration : Full-Time / Permanent
8-hour Day shift, Monday to Friday
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Working under the general supervision of the Practice Manager, the Patient Financial Services will provide administrative support to providers within an outpatient medical practice setting. The PFS will be responsible for billing and collections such as entering charges and patient communication, as well as operations within the practice. The PFS will be expected to function with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, and full time in office attendance is essential.
Some of the essential functions, duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to : Billing and Collection Responsibilities
The PFS is responsible for patient communication regarding all aspects of billing, assisting patients with questions, concerns and payments. Specific tasks include :
Billing Responsibilities
Explanation of benefits (EOBs) denials
Answer bill-pay line; collect payments
Enter office, surgery and outpatient charges
Correct claim errors / denials
Responsible for the Correspondence and Unpostable buckets
Correct the errors in the EPIC / Athena interface
Review daily payment batches
Zero pay batch
MRI-Specific Billing Responsibilities
MRI charge entry
Correct denied MRI claims
Calls to payors / insurers
COLLABORATION AND SUPPORT :
Collaborates with members of the clinical team, leadership and billing staff
Exhibits highly professional, team-oriented behaviors and models professional behavior with a strong emphasis on customer service and team goals
Willing to cross-cover and go to different sites as needed
Builds strong and trusting relationships with all members of the practice
Actively promotes and models service excellence at all times
QUALIFICATIONS :
Previous experience with the billing responsibilities listed above is required.
Experience with Athena is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person who already has billing experience.
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Able to work well as part of a collaborative healthcare team Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with patients and peers
Strong oral and written communication skills
Computer literacy
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks
Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for patients and peers
