As an Accounting Supervisor at InAlliance, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting adults with developmental disabilities, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a small but dynamic accounting and payroll team. In this role, you’ll oversee key financial functions, support compliance and efficiency, and contribute to process improvements that align with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Summary: The Accounting Supervisor oversees daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role involves managing a small team, preparing budgets, reconciling accounts, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving process improvements to support organizational goals through accurate reporting and analysis.
Essential Functions*:
- Manage, mentor, and support accounting staff by providing guidance and ensuring professional development.
- Delegate tasks effectively, monitor workload distribution, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Oversee general ledger maintenance, accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and payroll functions.
- Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of audit schedules and financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
- Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Prepare financial reports for management and the Board of Directors as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including nonprofit financial requirements.
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices.
- Collaborate with the Chief Financial and Operating Officer on strategic initiatives to enhance financial operations.

Qualifications
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Accounting Supervisor directly supervises accounting department staff.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and subject to disruptions.
Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and /or move up to 15 lbs.
Travel Required: Travel is not required.
Required Education and Experience

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, including supervisory experience.
- Experience that allows proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems, and Microsoft.
- Applied experience in General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Preferred Experience:
Experience:
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
- Prior audit experience.
