Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Essay Editor (Contractor) to join our team. This role involves providing in-depth feedback and revisions on college and private school application essays. The ideal candidate has strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the admissions process.
Responsibilities
- Edit and provide constructive feedback on personal statements, supplemental essays, and other application materials.
- Ensure clarity, coherence, and authenticity in students’ writing while preserving their unique voice.
- Offer detailed suggestions for structure, content, and grammar improvement.
- Work closely with consultants and students to refine essays under tight deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling student materials.
- Adhere to InAmerica Education’s quality standards and editing guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Journalism, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in admissions consulting, writing tutoring, or professional editing.
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. admissions process and essay expectations.
- Excellent writing, grammar, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
- Compensation
- Competitive contractor-based compensation per hour, depending on experience and workload.
