Corporate Counsel

The Corporate Counsel will work closely with the Associate General Counsel, General Counsel and other members of the Legal Team to provide comprehensive legal support and guidance to the organization. The Corporate Counsel is expected to bring an “all-round athlete” mindset to the organization, to effectively guide the business in conducting its operations in a compliant manner. 

The Corporate Counsel ideally has a broad skillset and demonstrated experience with or willingness to engage in matters involving litigation management, commercial contract review and management, compliance, corporate transactions, intellectual property and employment law.

Responsibilities

• Be a self-starter and provide legal advice and support to various departments within the organization on a wide range of legal matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, including master service agreements and statements of work, ensuring that they comply with applicable laws and protect the company’s interests.
• Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
• Support the Associate General Counsel and General Counsel in managing litigation and dispute resolution matters, including engaging and working with external counsel, helping to research background factual information related to legal issues, including interviewing employees and identifying relevant documents, and coordinating requests from external counsel.
• Lead legal support for supply chain, clinical trials (as needed) and regulatory issues.
• Review and manage systems and best practices for complying with discovery and document retention/litigation hold obligations in the most cost-effective manner possible, working with other departments (such as Information Technology).
• Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends that may impact the company and provide proactive advice and recommendations to mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance.
• Review promotional materials and provide counsel and guidance on regulatory and promotional requirements and risk assessment regarding commercial strategy.
• Collaborate with other members of the legal department and cross-functional teams to address legal issues and achieve business objectives.
• Handle other legal matters and special projects as assigned by the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel or senior management.

• As Needed: We are a relatively small legal team and we often need to pitch in on other areas of legal work, including global business issues and expansion. We’re looking for someone eager to explore areas outside of their specialty.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum 3 years of post-J.D. experience.
• Licensed member in good standing of the California State Bar.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail.
• Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in monitoring and interpreting relevant regulations to ensure company compliance with industry standards.
• Working knowledge and understanding of corporate law, contracts, commercial transactions, intellectual property, employment law, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of the medical device/technology industry.

• Outstanding organizational skills with ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, high-output, team-oriented environment.

• Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts and provide practical, business-oriented advice to non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong collaborator with ability to build internal and external relationships, and to collaborate regularly with cross-functional networks.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-paced environment, and balance competing priorities and timelines.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Inari Medical offers competitive health and wealth benefits for our employees. The base pay range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000. A range of factors, including location, skills, and experience, will be considered. Actual compensation may vary.
