Position Summary:
The Loss Mitigation Specialist is responsible for proactively contacting borrowers with delinquent accounts to discuss late payments, explore solutions to resolve past-due balances, and assist with payment arrangements or loan modifications. This role plays a critical part in supporting the financial well-being of both borrowers and the institution by helping to reduce losses and improve loan performance. Communication is primarily conducted through phone calls and email. This position requires strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate outbound and respond to inbound calls and emails to borrowers regarding past-due accounts.
- Discuss financial hardship situations with borrowers to assess their ability to repay.
- Offer and negotiate payment plans, forbearance options, or modifications in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all borrower interactions in the RMS NuPoint System.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., collections, lenders, and servicing) to ensure a seamless resolution process.
- Monitor accounts in assigned queues and follow up according to established timelines.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and internal procedures.
- Maintain a professional and empathetic approach when dealing with borrowers under financial stress.
- Meet or exceed productivity and quality goals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in loss mitigation, loan servicing, collections, or a related financial services role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office NuPoint.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Salary:
- · $40,000.00 to $50,000.00 annually
