Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Billing Manager to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the revenue cycle processes, ensuring accurate billing, coding, and collection of payments for medical services rendered. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the overall revenue cycle management within a medical office environment.
Duties
- Review and analyze patient accounts to ensure accurate billing and coding.
- Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems for proper classification of diagnoses and procedures.
- Process medical claims for submission to insurance companies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Conduct follow-ups on outstanding claims and manage the medical collection process.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing or coding.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) guidelines and medical billing practices.
- Assist in training staff on coding standards and revenue cycle processes.
- Generate reports on revenue cycle performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years experience
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of various coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical billing and collections processes is essential.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients regarding billing inquiries.
- Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is a plus but not mandatory.
