Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the revenue cycle processes, ensuring accurate billing, coding, and collection of payments for medical services rendered. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the overall revenue cycle management within a medical office environment.
Duties
Review and analyze patient accounts to ensure accurate billing and coding.
Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems for proper classification of diagnoses and procedures.
Process medical claims for submission to insurance companies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Conduct follow-ups on outstanding claims and manage the medical collection process.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing or coding.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) guidelines and medical billing practices.
Assist in training staff on coding standards and revenue cycle processes.
Generate reports on revenue cycle performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
Minimum of two years experience
Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of various coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG.
Previous experience in a medical office setting
Knowledge of medical billing and collections processes is essential.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients regarding billing inquiries.
Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is a plus but not mandatory.
