Job : IBM MQ Architect

Location : Jersey City, NJ

Duration : Full Time

As an IBM MQ Architect , you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the message queuing architecture using IBM MQ. Your role involves developing scalable and highly available messaging solutions that integrate with enterprise systems, ensuring reliable and secure data transmission across distributed applications. You will collaborate with various teams to align messaging infrastructure with business needs and ensure seamless system performance.

Key Responsibilities :

Architecture Design

Design and architect messaging solutions using IBM MQ to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability across applications. Ensure that all architecture decisions comply with industry regulations, including data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR), anti-money laundering (AML) policies, Know Your Customer (KYC), and other financial compliance frameworks.

System Integration

Work with development and operations teams to integrate IBM MQ into existing systems, ensuring secure and efficient message delivery across different platforms (e.g., cloud, on-premises).

Digital Transformation

Drive digital transformation initiatives by modernizing legacy systems, leveraging cloud computing, and adopting DevOps practices to ensure more agile, scalable, and cost-effective banking services.

Performance Optimization

Optimize IBM MQ configurations for maximum throughput and minimal latency, ensuring it meets the needs of high-volume, mission-critical applications.

Security & Compliance

Implement robust security protocols for message queues, ensuring encryption, authentication, and authorization align security controls to safeguard banking applications and data from cyber threats, ensuring compliance with industry standards like PCI-DSS for payment systems.

Disaster Recovery & Resilience

Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans for MQ environments, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.

Capacity Planning

Lead capacity planning and scaling efforts for MQ environments to support future business growth and traffic surges.

Troubleshooting & Support

Provide advanced troubleshooting expertise for issues related to IBM MQ and ensure quick resolution of complex problems.

Documentation & Best Practices

Develop documentation for system configurations, integration procedures, and best practices, ensuring consistency and knowledge sharing across teams.

Automation

Implement automation strategies for monitoring, configuration, deployment, and scaling of MQ environments to enhance operational efficiency.

Collaboration

Work closely with architects, developers, and IT teams to align messaging architectures with business requirements and enterprise architecture.

Qualifications :

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

10 overall experience and 5 years of experience in IBM MQ design, implementation, and administration in enterprise environments.

Proven experience in designing and delivering large-scale banking or financial systems.

Skills

Deep expertise in IBM MQ architecture and administration, including experience with MQ clustering, message routing, and persistent queues.

Experience with integrating IBM MQ with other enterprise on premise and cloud systems

Proficiency in troubleshooting MQ issues, including performance bottlenecks, connection problems, and message delivery failures.

Strong understanding of messaging patterns (e.g., point-to-point, publish / subscribe) and how to optimize for different workloads.

Experience with security configurations in IBM MQ, including SSL / TLS encryption, authentication, and access controls.

Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and how to integrate IBM MQ with cloud-native architectures.

Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, BitBucket).

Strong communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams and provide thought leadership.

Strong problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure or mission-critical situations.

Ability to design for scalability, security, and high availability in complex systems.

A proactive and collaborative approach to working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Experience with related technologies such as message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus.

Knowledge of various message formats in financial domain is a plus.

Understanding of banking industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements is good to have.
