A 3 year old growing San Diego based biotech startup is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analytics (FP&A) to join a dynamic team of scientists to assist and lead all aspects of currently outsourced financial operations. The startup was launched out of the Inception Therapeutics discovery incubator and is pioneering an entirely new class of therapeutics. The ideal candidate will be looking for a dynamic workplace where they can learn and expand their biotech or pharma skill sets.
The role is in office at least 4 days / week.
Director Financial Planning & Analytics (FP&A)
The Director of FP&A will play a leadership role in the business planning, operational finance, and business analytics functions across the Company. This high-impact role will collaborate closely with cross functional leaders to deliver analytical insights and financial models to support strategic business decisions and optimize operations. The Director of FP&A brings strong quantitative skills, strategic thinking, sound business judgment, and a successful track record of leadership success. The Director will be skilled at communicating a compelling and inspirational vision of the future of FP&A, inspiring and motivating team members and employees and sharing the vision consistently and clearly to stakeholders.
Essential Functions :
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Oversee the development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Lead strategic financial planning and long-range financial forecasting.
- Provide ongoing updates and analysis of actual performance vs. budget / forecast, identifying trends and variances and making recommendations for corrective actions.
- Develop and present monthly, quarterly reports for executive leadership and board presentations, providing insights into financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Maintain, and enhance metrics and dashboards to monitor operational performance, track progress, and provide actionable insights.
- Partner with department heads and business leaders to understand business drivers, develop forecasts, and offer financial guidance on strategic initiatives.
- Assist in preparing presentations for Board of Directors, senior management, and other stakeholders.

We offer a competitive total compensation package, as well as working in a supportive team environment.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego, CA is $175,000 to $215,000 . The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
