JOB DESCRIPTION
Our company is seeking a talented and innovative Architectural Designer to join our Real Estate, Facilities and Construction Team. With a diverse global portfolio that includes unique, technically complex testing laboratories, our company is continuously expanding our capabilities.
As a key member of our company Global Design & Construction Team, the architectural designer will support all aspects of project development. This role involves collaborating with the facility team to gather project requirements and program details, working under the guidance of the Architect Manager to develop concept designs, layouts, and 3D models, and coordinating closely with internal stakeholders and external design consultants to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Architectural Designer will assist the Real Estate Architect Manager on projects alongside a Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer and CAD planners to develop conceptual designs for complex laboratory buildings and workplace buildouts. Utilizing your knowledge of detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies, you will collaborate with internal lab groups and engineers, stakeholders, and external design professionals, and have opportunities to coordinate the design through all phases of the project under the Architect Manager’s guidance.
Aspects will include workspace planning, testing equipment placement with optimal flow, space considerations and coordination for MEPs to support the facility and testing requirements, consideration of applicable codes, physical security, AV, IT, and EHS requirements while ensuring consistency across our portfolio.
- Work closely with Architect manager to prepare and develop conceptual and schematic design
- Develop solutions to design assignments and technical challenges
- Independently perform various assignments that require innovative architectural design skills for complex laborlores new buildouts and workplace renovations
- Implement CAD standards aligned with industry best practices
- Maintaining accurate records and managing drawing archives
- Assist in coordinating MEP systems for laboratories, ensuring capabilities support testing requirements and equipment requirements as assigned.
- Collaborate with the construction team and Facility Planning Engineering Associates to translate business requirements into space plans and develop the designs for estimate costs and timelines.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain standard guidelines for our testing laboratories and offices, and review building plans of our existing footprint.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and coordination skills to effectively assist the CAD team and Engineering team, including updates to our global portfolio.
- Engage in transparent and efficient communication with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams, to ensure smooth project coordination.
- Take a proactive approach to identify potential challenges and provide creative solutions to overcome them, leveraging your analytical and problem-solving skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field.
- Minimum of (0-3) years of related experience.
- Proficiency in using architectural design software and tools, including 3D modeling and rendering software
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles and their application in architectural design and general industry for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines
