Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team on a temporary basis. This role will support our team for 8-10 weeks as a w2 or 1099 employee. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in financial accounting and public accounting, with experience in technical accounting and financial auditing. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts in the general ledger.
- Monitor and analyze inventory transactions and variances.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Cost Accounting:
- Analyze cost data to ensure accurate product costing and pricing.
- Maintain and update standard costs of products and materials.
- Prepare and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) reports.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to inventory and costing.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to inventory and costing.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking and costing.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve inventory management and cost efficiency.
- Support cross-functional teams with inventory and costing analysis for new product development and process improvements.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in inventory and costing.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in accounting standards related to inventory and costing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, with a focus on inventory and cost accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems) and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment: This position is located in a corporate office environment with occasional site visits to our manufacturing site. We will also consider a hybrid or remote role for this position. This is based on previous proven ability and experience in working remotely for project-based assignments.
