What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Operator - 2nd Shift position at Incom Inc?
Incom is looking for an entry-level 2nd Shift CNC Operator (Schedule Mon -Fri: 3pm - 11:30pm) at our Rte 20 facility in Charlton.
Our CNC Operators are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC cutting and grinding machines. Read and interpret routing sheets and drawings to perform required operations and ensure products meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
Responsibilities
Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up CNC cutting and grinding machines as assigned.
- Read and interpret routing sheets and drawings to determine required operations and product specifications.
- Load products onto machines and adjust speeds, feeds, depths, pressure, and run times as appropriate.
- Perform complex setups on CNC machinery.
Machine Monitoring:
- Operate assigned machines to perform required operations.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure proper processing of products.
- Perform periodic inspections to ensure items meet specifications.
- Make adjustments to machines as required and/or notify supervisors of out-of-specification situations.
- Monitor tool wear and change and/or dress wheels as required.
Quality Control:
- Maintain specified tolerances.
- Grind and cut items to specified dimensions while holding acceptable tolerances.
- Use precision measuring devices such as micrometers, vernier calipers, depth mics, indicators, gauge blocks, comparators, and accugauge to determine specifications.
- Conduct periodic inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
Collaboration with Engineering:
- May work closely with Engineering to conduct tests and assist in new product development.
- Troubleshoot process problems as needed.
Safety and Maintenance:
- Follow all established safety rules and regulations.
- Utilize required safety equipment.
- Detect malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions and notify appropriate personnel.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three years of stable work history.
- Experience preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right individual.
- Visual acuity, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity required.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- English language competency (speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing) commensurate with the duties.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background checks and drug tests.
- Reliable transportation required to work a set schedule.
- 1-2 years experience setting up, operating, editing, and troubleshooting CNC Machinery. Haas Milling machine experience is a plus.
- In lieu of experience, completed CNC coursework, including CNC manufacturing via technical high school or CNC Certification from Community College, will be considered.
- CNC writing and programming experience a plus.
- Experience working with glass is a plus.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring devices for extremely high tolerances.
