JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Senior Accountant to work in our privately held manufacturing and game development company. This hands-on role reports to the Assistant Controller and is suited for an individual who enjoys rolling up his or her sleeves and being part of process improvements. The primary responsibilities of the Senior Accountant include oversight of the monthly close process, preparation of month-end financial statements and reporting packages, assistance in preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, preparation of reconciliations, analytical review of financial data and controls. The Senior Accountant will be a part of a Finance team that leads to the creation and implementation of policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.

The successful candidate will have relevant technical experience in a small to mid-sized manufacturing/assembly environment.  This person will establish productive partnerships throughout the organization. The right candidate will possess a commitment to timeliness, accuracy, teamwork, and accountability, and will possess the ability to effectively interact with numerous disciplines, customers, and vendors. This person will have primary day-to-day responsibility for the general accounting as well as the ability to provide input for improved reporting and processes within the finance department.

The responsibilities of the Senior Accountant include, but are not limited to:

Accounting and Reporting: 

• Ability to assess current accounting operations in accordance with GAAP and ability to evaluate and improve upon internal control systems. 
• A strong desire and ability for change management which includes Implementing, documenting, and maintaining adequate and effective accounting processes and internal controls to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting and effective internal controls. Ensuring that effective internal controls are in place to ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and for financial reporting.
• Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.  Including, but not limited to: 
• Preparing workpapers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances.
• Reviewing and recording of journal entries required to reflect the monthly activity.
• Preparing monthly financial statements for internal and external distribution, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.
• Reviewing monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records.
• Instilling continual improvement within cost accounting to increase accuracy, detail, and usability of costing data.  Providing recommendations to strategically improve accounting performance.
• Support the activities of the outside CPA firm(s), including the annual financial and benefit audits and tax returns.
• Light supervision and coaching of accounting personnel.
• Control over daily banking activity through the entire revenue cycle

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required, CPA preferred
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience in small and mid-sized businesses strongly preferred
• Coin-op and casino gaming or highly regulated industry experience is a strong plus but is not necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex topics clearly, concisely, and influentially across all audiences. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy yet remain influential and decisive when dealing with others in the organization.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment. 
• Competency and comfort with financial management and accounting software. Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is a distinct advantage. 
• Strong Microsoft office skills including advanced Excel aptitude.  
• Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product. Accountable for specific performance.
• Ethics and Confidentiality. Operates with the highest integrity and respects the need for confidence.
• Intellectually curious with a focus on continuous improvement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Primarily an office and plant environment. The role is largely on-site; however, hybrid work arrangements are available
• Periodic weekend or evening work is anticipated to meet financial close and reporting cycles but balanced in support of work/life
• Considerable amount of time spent in front of a computer
