Sr. Research Scientist/Research Investigator, Myeloid Disease

The Myeloid Diseases team has an immediate opening for a Senior Research Scientist / Research Investigator to design and execute cell-based assays to support drug discovery programs. This includes the development of relevant model systems for the identification, validation, and screening of small molecules or antibodies against novel therapeutic targets. The successful candidate is extremely organized and able to work independently.

Essential Functions Of The Job

• Design, execute, and interpret cell-based in vitro experiments to explore the therapeutic potential of small molecules or antibodies
• Identify and develop assays to screen functional activity of drug candidates
• Culture of cell lines and primary cells
• Isolation and culture of human hematopoietic cells
• Flow cytometry of mouse and human hematopoietic progenitor cells
• Work independently on the bench with minimal supervision
• Work collaboratively across multiple functional groups within drug discovery to achieve key corporate goals
• Excellent record keeping
• Evaluate data, prepare reports and presentations for internal meetings
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree and 3-5 years of combined experience in industry or academia OR Ph.D. with 0-3 years of combined experience in industry or academia. Candidates with a background in Biology, Immunology, Hematology, Pharmacology, or related field will be preferred.
• Preferred previous laboratory experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
• Expertise in the following techniques is preferred: cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, CFU assays, ELISA, MSD, Western blot, real-time PCR
• Proficient in scientific computer programs including Microsoft, Flowjo, and Graphpad Prism
• Excellent communication skills
