Job Summary
Consults with Global IT leadership team to set medium- to long-term strategic direction and operating plans for 3M ASIA. Cooperate with global IT leaders to develop business strategies and create solutions for complex and multi-faceted problems. Provides advice and counsel for decision-making, operational/strategic planning, and information management. Plans, organizes, and directs all IT Application activities and policies. Plans, organizes, communicates, and directs all technical aspects of information technology activities and policies for 3M ASIA. Be part of local leadership Team and International Applications Leadership Team.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for ongoing lifecycle maintenance, support and continuous optimization of all currently deployed ASIA applications portfolio (including area, regional and local applications). Ensure the day-to-day operations based on ASIA applications portfolio, continuous improvement, through Global IT initiative around application modernization program.
Works with various BGs, Functions, and IT leadership teams in ASIA region to establish EA business plan and operating plan aligned with corporate IT strategy and guidelines. Consults with Global IT leadership team to set medium- to long-term strategic direction and operating plans for 3M ASIA.
Ensures Compliance and Operational Excellence and owns Applications Operational Plan in ASIA region.
Manage a cross-functional and cross-cultural team which delivers solutions for multiple functions or business groups. It requires the management of multiples disciplines such as applications design, RFP process, application build, integration and maintenance, application service management including vendor management.
Ensures projects or applications change requests prioritization through well-established governance processes.
Manages highly experimented direct reports (JG14) to junior leaders (JG12) who works and covers various IT application domains in Supply Chain, EO, Corporate or Digital. Managing ASIA applications team includes objective setting, performance management and building team effectiveness. Part of the role is to redesign the ASIA Application Organization structure to fit with global organization changes or corporate decision affecting the ASIA applications organization.
Provide work direction and guidance's for both IT internal and external resources is intrinsic to the role of ASIA Applications Lead. Beyond this a proper vendor management is required to ensure IT external resources are meeting expected performance and SLA attainment.
ASIA applications portfolio includes more than 1600 applications with different technologies and addressing ASIA complexity and specific requirements which requires ingenuity and strong capability to address problem solving challenges.
Understand 3M operating models, policies and processes for problem solving and use the knowledge of various methods e.g., LSS, NPI and IT procedures and networking to deliver expected results.
In 3M complex matrix organization conflicts may occur between co-workers, or between groups, or between TTS and user organizations. Experience leadership is required to manage conflicts using different techniques based on experience and on the different trainings.
Deliver value-based Optimization and Retrofit Roadmaps in ASIA BGs, Enterprise Operations, Corporate Affairs, Support, and R&D organizations to enable Customer satisfaction and productivity improvements. The role also includes the support for ERP Deployments in ASIA EMEA and for Acquisition and Divestiture.
The role impacts several organizations in EMEA i.e., BG's, Corporate functions, Cust. Ops and Supply Chain organizations.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor level university/college degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred. In addition, a minimum of 10-12 years of relevant working experience in IT is required.
Expert/master knowledge and experience with the most current theories and practices in one or more related professional disciplines such as network, server architecture, applications, data warehousing, etc. In addition, likely to have broad knowledge of multiple related disciplines. Comprehensive knowledge of 3M’s global strategy, business areas, structure and organization, as well as of the external market (competitors, trends, etc.).
Requires the ability to communicate in written and spoken English.
Requires leadership and supervisory skills necessary for managing people such as knowledge of employment law, knowledge of corporate/location policies and procedures, effective communications, performance appraisal procedures, performance management, hiring and interviewing, documentation, interpersonal skills, coaching skills, change management, conflict resolution, delegation, goal setting, motivation, emotional intelligence, strategic planning. Proficient in using corporate/local systems, HR systems, sourcing payment systems, etc.
