Primary Purpose:
This role is a proactive leadership role that is responsible for all project services functions and resources in the project. The Project Controls Director position should bring an assurance to the company that the project meets all commercial, financial, documentation, cost and schedule requirements utilizing Project Controls best practices. This position serves as single point of contact for the Vice President of Project Management, reporting operationally to the Project Director or Director of Project Management.
ResponsibilitiesDuties/responsibilities:
The duties of the Project Controls Manager are generally described as coordinating and directing project controls teams on assigned projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
- Leading, training and mentoring project controls professionals for skills development
- Participate in the development, improvement, and implementation of project controls systems
- Utilize experience to create a robust project controls system that focuses on project development and setup and change management processes to generate industry class performance for achieving project schedule and budget commitments.
- Define expectations on how Project Controllers will interface with an assigned project team and what services the group provides to drive predictability and repeatability.
- Understand the project life cycle and implement project controls processes and procedures as required
- Understand and provide support to develop Work Breakdown Structures for project execution and monitoring
- Assist with development of project rules of credit to manage progress and earned value of performance reporting for revenue recognition
- Setup, Prepare and maintain project or engineering schedule and cost control aspects from project initiation to close out
- Collect information to support cost control reports and schedule updates for project managers
- Analyze, evaluate and forecast based on progress and performance
- Track cost and schedule performance against baselines and update progress accordingly
- Monitor project budgets and recommend and facilitate change management processes as required
- Study and understand customer and organizational needs and constantly seek proactive methods to improve project performance and communication.
- Develop thorough understanding of contract provisions, scope of work, the estimate and execution strategies for assigned projects
- Review and code 3rd party contracts, progress reporting structure, and invoices for processing
- Validate source data and ensure integrity of processes affecting project success such as project coding, budget allocation, A/R & A/P project related activity
- Manage invoicing while ensuring compliance to project contractual terms and conditions
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Project Managers and Project Team Members
- Perform thorough QA/QC on all deliverables.
- Backup to our Project Information Management Coordinator to prepare incoming and outgoing deliverable transmittals to clients and internal team members as necessary on projects assigned
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on improving cost and schedule predictability and repeatability while contributing to improved investment decisions across the organization’s project portfolio.
- Vast understanding of Project Controls functions: Cost Control, Scheduling, Risk, and Estimating and applying them to linear and processing projects
- Engaging with management on financial reporting, initiatives, staffing, processes, and procedures
- Travel to field locations may be required but is estimated to be less than 10% of time. Department members will have a heavy workload, with unplanned overtime and changes in work priorities; multiple projects with short turnaround time are common.

- Experienced in estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of project controls work. Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
- Ability to lead teams to deliver on commitments.
Experience:
This position requires 10 or more years of relevant industrial experience in project controls, cost controls, cost estimation, planning, scheduling, and project management.
Education:
Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Contruction Science, Building Science or related field is highly preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent with 10 years or more of experience will also qualify and be considered for this role.

Compensation: Compensation ranges are provided in good faith based on what we anticipate when researching wages for this position at the state and national levels. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
