Job Overview
The Continuous Improvement Manager will drive improvement utilize Six Sigma methodology. As the site operates 24/7, the Quality & Continuous Improvement Leader may need to be available on call or in person for urgent matters. Responsibilities include compliance with HSEQ policies, regulations, legal and internal requirements, and site-specific rules. The role involves adhering to standard procedures such as MOC and LOTOTO to ensure productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Additional duties include identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and incidents, as well as suggesting improvements to the management system.
This role also is positioned to become a Technical Manager within 2 years.
Duties
- Conduct regular work area reviews to identify potential hazards and report them to the direct supervisor.
- Report near misses, incidents, and accidents promptly to ensure workplace safety and compliance.
- Identify and communicate potential improvements to the management system for enhanced efficiency.
- Complete required training through MyCareer, MyLearning, Web-Ex, or Instructor-Led Training (ILT) sessions.
- Oversee the disposition of non-performing stock, including blending and system updates in Non-Prime SharePoint and SAP.
- Participate in reviewing plant equipment projects and control system changes that may impact product quality (Management of Change).
- Track and analyze key plant quality control metrics, propose specification revisions, and collaborate with the Recipe Industrialization Group (RIG) to optimize processes.
- Lead Root Cause Investigations (RCI) for customer quality complaints, working with functional SMEs and Account Teams to develop closure documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement projects, working closely with the Maintenance & Operations Manager and leading Lean methodologies, Six Sigma, and DMAIC initiatives.
- Manage quality KPIs and continuous improvement project portfolios, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, regulatory compliance, and sustainability objectives.
Requirements:
- Six Sigma Belt
- 5 years of experience with driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with batch or semi-batch chemical manufacturing ideal but any manufacturing experience is acceptable
- Demonstrated expertise in lean tools and methodologies, including the Toyota Production System, A3 Development and Management, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/Visual Factory, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Quick Changeover (QCO-SMED), Standard Work, Process Problem Solving, Built-In Quality, Just-In-Time (JIT), Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Hoshin Kanri – SDP X Matrix, and Lean ROI.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred)
