Overview
The Instrumentation Supervisor oversees and supports the electrical and instrumentation department, ensuring plant reliability while enforcing safety policies and work rules. Reporting to the Electrical Manager, this role supervises bargaining unit employees, conducts weekly safety meetings, organizes shift activities to optimize electrical efficiency, and maintains accurate documentation of daily operations and overtime records. Additional responsibilities include attending meetings, preparing reports, submitting documentation, and facilitating training on plant automation, which may require external education. The supervisor also provides essential electrical support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct weekly safety meetings for all shift personnel.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of bargaining unit employees, ensuring electrical efficiency for optimal production.
- Maintain detailed shift activity records on the “daily activity” sheet.
- Attend various meetings as required.
- Ensure accurate payroll and overtime records (e-time) for supervised personnel.
- Prepare and submit written reports, including safety meeting minutes and letters of recognition.
- Complete and submit necessary documentation to relevant personnel.
- Gain knowledge of the plant’s automation systems, with potential for external training.
- Provide electrical support to production during nights and weekends as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience with plant electrical & instrumentation systems with any kind of pyro processing manufacturing
- Experience with 480-4160 voltage industrial plant equipment
- Experience with 4 to 20 volts for instrumentation
- Experience with lock out tag out
- Experience with supervising electrical techs or instrumentation techs
- Experience with troubleshooting, repairing electrical and instrumentation systems
- Experience with raw material grinding process, including equipment start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures
- AS in Engineering
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience with CEMS continuous emission monitoring system
- Experience with plant electrical & instrumentation systems in the cement or lime industry
- Experience with cement rotary kiln, shaft kiln, cement vertical mill, cement ball mill, and cement roller press
- Experience supervising up to 8 electrical techs
- MSHA training (Mine Safety & Health Admin)
- Fluent in French (parent company is from France)
- BS in Engineering
