JOB TITLE : CONTROLLER

REPORTS TO : PARTNER

JOB PURPOSE / SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Controller with proven experience in the mining, manufacturing, or construction industry to support and enhance our financial operations. This role will assist in the development and implementation of financial processes, oversee daily accounting activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong leadership skills, and has an in-depth understanding of industry-specific financial practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting : Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and external financial submissions.
  • Oversight of Accounting Operations : Supervise daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting : Collaborate with the finance team to create annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Cost Analysis and Control : Analyze project costs and production expenses to identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance : Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information and compliance with GAAP, IFRS, or relevant accounting standards.
  • Audit Coordination : Act as a liaison for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information as required.
  • Financial Systems Management : Assist in maintaining and improving ERP systems to improve the integration and automation of financial processes.
  • Policy Implementation : Help establish and enforce accounting policies and procedures that align with industry best practices.
  • Team Leadership : Mentor and guide accounting staff, providing training and development opportunities to foster a high-performing team.
  • Collaboration : Partner with project managers, operations, and procurement teams to ensure alignment between financial planning and project execution.
  • Special Projects : Support various finance-related projects, such as system upgrades, process improvements, and financial analysis initiatives.

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of [5-7] years of accounting experience, with [2-3] years in a supervisory role within the mining, manufacturing, or construction industry.
  • Knowledge Base : Strong understanding of industry-specific cost accounting and financial management practices.
  • Analytical Skills : High level of analytical and critical thinking skills, capable of interpreting complex financial data and trends.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present data and explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail : Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Problem-solving : Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications preferred.

  • HARDWARE / SOFTWARE SKILLS

  • Technical Skills : Strong proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite & QuickBooks) and advanced knowledge / proficiency of Microsoft Excel.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Sit for extended periods
  • Bend, crouch, kneeling, and contorting into odd positions
  • Lift and / or move up to 25 pounds
