Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day support and management of the cleaning staff. As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will be responsible for cleaning residents’ apartments and public areas according to a schedule and established procedures. You will also perform all laundry duties in our commercial laundry facilities. You will take on a rewarding position with an innovative company where hard work pays off and advancement is always a possibility.

Required Experience for Housekeeping Assistant:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities.
  • Ability to train staff on company policies as well as on their job responsibilities.
  • Sound problem solving skills.
  • Must have knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment and tools and have the communication and teaching skills to impart this information to fellow co-workers.
  • Ability to identify hazards and report to management.
  • Ability to interact, communicate, and work closely with residents, families and vendors.
  • Ability to help train and motivate staff to provide quality service.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to concisely follow client direction.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Primary Responsibilities for Housekeeping Assistant:

  • Assist in ensuring all operational and safety procedures are properly followed.
  • Assist in establishing schedules and plan daily work assignments.
  • In absence of Lead, manages customer housekeeping problems; investigate complaints about cleaning service.
  • In absence of Lead, manages & orders inventories of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in providing training to both current and new employees and manage the number of hours employees work.
  • Assist in arranging maintenance and repair of cleaning equipment (i.e. vacuum cleaners).
  • Maintains a working knowledge of developments in cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Cleans all areas as assigned according to the departmental standards, process, and procedures.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in assigned areas as directed, according to established standards, observing proper cleaning technique.
  • Uses supplies in an economical and prudent manner; Reports supply and equipment needs to supervisor for replenishing.
  • Operate the following machines buffers, extraction equipment, vacuums and all commercial laundry equipment.
  • Additional duties as assigned or needed by Housekeeping Lead.

General Working Conditions:

This position entails standing for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Occasional travel to different locations may be required
