Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt Position

Overview: Life Skills Coach (LSC) is to provide support in the home and in the community to the people we serve. This may include training with household management, housekeeping, shopping, community integration events, accompany with and or arranging transportation, assistance with communication, maintaining a healthy life style, attending routine and annual medical appointments and other duties as outlined in their Individual Service Plan (ISP). LSC is expected to be responsive to the people we serve’s instructions and requests regarding duties and conduct at all times. Employment is at the will of the people we serve, as well as, ICR.

Life Skills Coach (LSC) must have an understanding and commitment to individuals being empowered, making their own choices, and living in their own homes. LSC must have the ability to communicate effectively. It is essential for LSC to have the ability to work with the people we serve in providing support. LSC needs to have the ability to work consistently and support agency philosophy and program design. LSC is to have a record of punctuality, good work attendance, flexibility and reliability.

Essential Functions: Life Skills Coach (LSC) must have good oral and written communication skills. LSC is to teach, supervise, evaluate and counsel the people we serve in individual setting as well as group situation according to an individualized, specific program plan. LSC is to utilize teaching techniques and practice Independent Living Skills, such as but not limited to money management, cooking, shopping, home maintenance, laundry, personal hygiene, safety, personal relationships, transportation, self-advocacy, health, medical and community awareness. LSC is to provide and practice age appropriate methods of training in the natural environment. LSC is to maintain professional and appropriate relationships with the people we serve, families, and other professional encounters. LSC must actively and positively support the people we serve, the agency and the team. This position requires positive participation in all company directives. LSC must maintain regular, current and accurate documentation. In addition, LSC assists the people we serve in maintaining personal files.

Physical Demands: Life Skills Coach (LSC) must be able to demonstrate ability to lift and transfer a minimum of 60lbs. LSC must drive safely and ability for flexible hours.

Mental Demands: Life Skills Coach (LSC) must be able to appropriately perform the duties while isolated in satellite locations.

Marginal Functions: Life Skills Coach (LSC) is to make periodic reports, participate in planning relative to the people we serve’s progress and program. LSC must maintain a clean and safe work environment and participate in other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the people we serve and/or our Program Design. LSC must have flexibility with schedule to meet the needs of the people we serve and/or our Program. LSC must attend mandatory periodic staff meetings and monthly agency meeting. Computer skills are preferred for all employees.
Qualifications: Life Skills Coach (LSC) must have the ability to provide documentation as required, as well as to maintain First Aid and CPR certifications and any necessary training required by the agency or those authorities regulating the agency. LSC must be eighteen years of age or older as well as have at least a high school education, or GED. Experience working with the intellectually disabled, head injured, and/or dual diagnosed populations are preferred. LSC must have reliable transportation that will accommodate at least three (3) passengers, valid California Driver License, auto insurance and provide a DMV print out. LSC must be able to demonstrate ability to lift and transfer a minimum of 60 lbs. In addition, it is to be understood that the position requires that the employee maintains a working smartphone or tablet with data service.

Job Requirements: We are looking for direct care staff to assist people with Intellectual Disabilities with their daily living tasks such as grocery shopping, doctors’ appointments and housekeeping by being optimistic, encouraging, and cheerful. We are looking for a self-starter, a motivator, a compassionate and well-organized people. There is a demand to help support people with Special Needs by helping to build confidence in these individuals by offering training, support and assistance as well as being attentive. We provide all required training. We serve clients throughout Southern California.

This is an entry level position and we offer paid training. We provide benefits as well.

Must be 18 years or older, have a Valid California Driver’s License, proof of auto insurance, reliable vehicle, and GED education or higher.

  • Salary: starts at $17.00 per hour depending on experience. *

Training is provided. We service clients in West Covina, Pomona, Montclair, Monrovia, San Dimas and other surrounding areas.

Job Type: Part-time available

Shifts Availability: Times between 10:30am and 9:30pm; days from Sunday through Saturday are available

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
