Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to oversee operations at our high-acuity group home for youth. This role requires a compassionate leader with extensive experience working with adolescents who have behavioral, emotional, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, and the ability to manage complex situations while fostering a supportive and therapeutic environment for residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate direct care staff, therapists, and other team members.
- Foster a positive and professional workplace culture that prioritizes the well-being of youth and staff.
- Create and maintain staff schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage and adherence to staffing ratios.
- Conduct regular team meetings to promote collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
2. Youth Care and Support
- Oversee individualized care plans for residents, ensuring they align with therapeutic, behavioral, and medical needs.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in de-escalating crises and managing challenging behaviors.
- Ensure the safety, emotional stability, and personal growth of residents through trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
- Collaborate with families, guardians, and external service providers to support the holistic care of residents.
3. Program Operations
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
- Manage program budgets, facility needs, and inventory to ensure a well-maintained and functional environment.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records, including incident reports, case files, and staff documentation.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance care quality and operational efficiency.
4. Crisis Intervention and Problem-Solving
- Respond to high-acuity situations and crises, ensuring safety for all individuals involved.
- Provide guidance to staff during critical incidents, including the use of de-escalation techniques.
- Conduct incident reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
5. Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, guardians, and external partners.
- Advocate for residents’ needs in meetings with schools, healthcare providers, and social services.
- Represent the group home professionally in the community and build relationships with referral sources.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing group homes or similar residential programs, preferably for youth with high-acuity needs.
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and adolescent development.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing youth residential programs.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team in high-stress environments.
- Excellent conflict resolution, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Prevention/Intervention (preferred).
- Experience with restraining and de-escalation.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to respond promptly to emergencies and high-acuity situations.
- Some physical activity may be required, such as assisting in de-escalation or managing a crisis.
