Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing direct services to individuals served by Independent Living Services. As part of a team, the DSP works under the supervision of the Day Services Program Coordinator and is responsible for increasing employment and life skills to positively impact each consumer's quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advocacy when an individual's preferences, needs, or talents are neglected or overlooked.
- Encourage growth while recognizing autonomy and reducing risk of harm.
- Develop relationships with individuals that are respectful, based on mutual trust, and maintain professional boundaries.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Be on time for work.
- Complete necessary documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Plan and conduct daily classes/activities with consumers.
- Assist individuals with physical needs and transport them as needed.
- Participate in monthly evacuation drills and staff meetings/trainings.
Requirements:
- A valid AR driver's license in good standing and proof of vehicle liability insurance.
- Ability to observe and record behavioral data.
- Good listening skills and ability to evaluate/determine consumer strengths and needs.
