The Associate Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Independent Management Services of Minnesota, Inc’s program development, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services to our clients. The Associate Director will provide strategic leadership and direction for the department’s programs and service, devising and leading strategic plans in collaboration with related executive staff. The Associate Director will ensure consistent implementation and adherence to all guidelines and requirements across the Independent Management Services of Minnesota, Inc’s Behavioral Health program, as appropriate. The Associate Director will also be responsible for financial management, such as creating and adhering to annual budgets, identifying revenue sources, and managing resources. Additionally, speaking engagements and representing Independent Management Services of Minnesota, Inc’s Behavioral Health program through relevant and strategic relationship building. Other essential duties include program staff supervision, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Work directly with the Executive Director
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of Behavioral Health Programs and Teams: LPS, LCSWs, LPCCs, LPCs, LSWs, BSWs, LADC’s.
  • Leads and directs daily operations across multiple levels of staff, programs and locations to achieve goals and ensure contract compliance in all functional areas supporting behavioral health
  • Fosters a culture of high trust, collaboration, hospitality, mission-focus, continuous improvement, curiosity and learning across the organization.
  • Project a positive image of the organization to employees, patients, and community.
  • Collaborates with other assistant directors, supervisees, and others to ensure patients are able to access care in a timely manner.
  • Monitors efficiency and productivity of supervisees.
  • Hires, supervises, reviews staff performance and ends employment for all supervisees in collaboration with HR
  • Implements Independent Management Services of Minnesota, Inc all-staff events with management team.
  • Hosts needed meetings for Behavioral Health teams in collaboration with team leads and coordinators.
  • Coordinates Behavioral Health aspects of orientation for new therapists and social workers in collaboration with team leads and coordinators.
  • Helps develop roles of team members to best meet the needs of the organization
  • Helps coordinate needed trainings for teams in collaboration with team leads and coordinators.
  • Functions as Associate Director full time while carrying a case load as needed.
  • Engages in relevant community partnerships with Colleges and other community partners
  • Addresses patient grievances and issues related to supervisees and areas of operation under purview
  • Refers matters relating to care, IT, Front Office/Call Center, site operations and facility to appropriate supervisors (This position does not include primary responsibility of these areas.)
  • Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned
  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Behavioral Health department and related programs, including implementing strategic goals and leading staff towards achievement of agency objectives.
  • Monitor program outcomes and performance metrics to assess effectiveness, identify areas of strength or for improvement, to adapt and enhance programs and services. Update and report relevant leadership and stakeholders regarding progress.
  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure department is operating efficiently and effectively. This includes, but is not limited to, all aspects of the department and program budget, expenditures, and revenue streams.
  • Identify and pursue contractual funding opportunities to support program growth and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, Medicaid regulations, and other financial regulations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders or potential partners, including, but not limited to, government agencies, partner organizations, other agencies, professional, civic or private organizations, and community members.
  • Utilize the above relationships for collaboration where possible to provide systems of care and enhanced access to services, secure financial and non-financial resources, and to strategically support the Behavior Health department’s goals.
  • Represent Independent Management Services of Minnesota, Inc’s Behavior Health programs in local, state, and national forums to advocate for behavioral health issues and promote awareness of our services.

· Be available by phone or in-person for emergencies and crisis consultation when needed.

· Provide direct individual clinical supervision to practitioners in the TCM and ARHMS programs monthly.

· Serve as a liaison for programs that serve clients together especially when differences may arise.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinical oversight to the programs and ensure that all quality, clinical excellence, and safety measures are maintained.
  • Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed staff per requirements
  • Provide tours for prospective clients and their families and support Primary Therapists as needed in supporting client’s families.
  • Ensure that the program’s clinical approach remains behavioral and skills-based and in line with Independent Management Services of Minnesota, Inc.’s mission and values.
  • Facilitate weekly Treatment Team meetings, regular clinical trainings and provide clinical mentorship, compile behavioral feedback for clients, and ensure meeting notes are taken and distributed
  • Regularly review and audit clinical documentation for the program in order to maintain internal and licensing standards
  • Assist with coverage of individual, family, and group therapy sessions as needed during Primary Therapist absences.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise a team of skilled professionals to deliver behavioral health services.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for staff and interns.

· Review and sign off on all case records required and in compliance with all Federal, State, County, or funders, for counseling staff.

· Attend trainings and workshops as required for professional development or mandated by contract

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes staff morale and retention.
  • Ensure all operational guidelines are applied consistently across all service locations.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff members.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the teams.
  • Provide direct supervision and facilitate weekly meetings with the Primary Therapists, and Operations Manager to provide oversight and individualized support.
  • Evaluate the performance and competence of staff, and when necessary, discipline and discharge subordinate staff in accordance with established personnel policies (i.e.: Performance evaluations, Coaching Plans, etc.)
  • Create and maintain a positive, collaborative team culture and collaborate with the Operations Manager to facilitate quarterly team-building activities for the team.
  • Provide staff with updates/ changes to policies, procedures, and organizational goals
  • Maintain the program schedule and ensure that it adheres to Independent Management Services of Minnesota Inc’s program schedule requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (qualifies as a Mental Health Professional)
  • Current unrestricted Minnesota clinical license (or eligible and able to attain one)
  • 5 years of combined clinical experience in mental health and substance use disorder services
  • Experience in project management, leadership, and quality improvement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to travel 20%
  • Driver’s License and access to a reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Exceptional clinical judgment
  • Knowledge and experience in various therapeutic orientations and treatment modalities
  • Provides clear communication both in person and via email
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and attentiveness to clinical needs related to disability and/or racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual and gender identity
  • Knowledge of adolescent mental health and co-occurring disorders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with the community, visitors, employees, and vendors.
