Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, nursing homes, and memory care facilities. Your primary goal will be to assist individuals in achieving greater independence while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Provide patient care and support for individuals with diverse needs, including those with autism and other developmental disabilities.
- Observe and document client behavior and progress, reporting any significant changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space for clients, ensuring a healthy environment.
- Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events to promote socialization and inclusion.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Support clients in achieving personal goals related to independence and self-care.
Skills
- Experience in medication administration is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with working with people with disabilities, particularly in settings such as nursing homes or long-term care facilities.
- Strong patient observation skills to monitor client behavior and health status effectively.
- Ability to maintain a clean environment conducive to client health and safety.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disorders is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members.
