JOB DESCRIPTION
EPS TECHNICIAN
Title: EPS Technician
Department: Prepress Department
Reports to: Prepress Team Lead
Status: Full-time, Hourly
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
POSITION SUMMARY
The EPS Technician is part of a team of graphic experts, dedicated to innovation and is responsible for translating graphics into well-known brands in the marketplace. In this position, the EPS Technician is responsible for the layout and preparation of electronic files per customer expectations and will produce press-ready files.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Expertise in preparing files for various printing methods (offset roll to roll and sheet fed, digital, wide format)
- Troubleshoot and correct errors in customer supplied artwork to meet technical specifications; to include- working with the service team to resolve issues, compare files to the estimate provided to the customer to ensure accurate pricing.
- Knowledge of check 21 specifications and creating files that meet the standards.
- Work with and create databases for multiple variable data processes to create marketing pieces and other media using USPS mail piece design requirements
- Provide customer support to internal teams and external customers, to include- providing technical support to customers to educate on the process and recommending processes that ensure customers are happy with their final product.
- Work with color profiles and implement color management processes to ensure accurate color reproduction.
- Troubleshooting, to include- solving hardware and software related issues with the assistance of the IT department, also maintaining prepress equipment such as RIPs and printers.
- Maintain accurate records and notes for each order.
- Complete work in a specified timeline to meet production deadlines.
- Understanding of file formats (ex.: PDF, VDX, EPS) and their uses.
REQUIREMENTS:
· File editing or preflight operations experience on both Macintosh and PC platforms.
· Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. Knowledge of variable data is a bonus, but we can train.
· Familiarity with sheet-fed, roll to roll and digital printing processes.
· An eye for detail and exceptional organizational skills.
· A two or four-year degree in a related field of study or equivalent work experience.
