As a Level 3 Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing both the engineering and management aspects of High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems. Your main goal will be to ensure that all components are correctly installed, configured, and integrated according to the specified HPC system architecture.
Responsibilities
- Manage and ensure system requirements align with Department of Defense architectures like DoDAF and SOA.
- Contribute to the creation of systems engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans and Requirements Specifications.
- Assist in developing and allocating system and functional requirements to hardware, software, and personnel.
- Coordinate action item resolutions from Configuration Control Board meetings and design reviews.
- Collaborate in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities, considering development and operational factors.
- Allocate real-time and error budgets for system components.
- Generate alternative system concepts and design solutions.
- Define verification methods and processes for compliance with system requirements.
- Develop system design solutions that fulfill requirements and functional analyses.
- Review inputs for work breakdown structures and integrated master plans.
- Manage interface definitions and modifications across affected groups.
- Understand stakeholder needs derived from system requirements for effective design.
- Derive detailed lower-level requirements from higher-level mandates.
- Facilitate approval of system definitions (requirements, designs, interfaces) for developers.
- Develop requirements for Information Assurance Services and security mechanisms.
- Implement comprehensive SOA solutions and create architecture views compliant with DoDAF standards.
- Review systems engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assess program risks and establish verification planning for new designs early in development.
- Manage changes to requirements proactively, ensuring stakeholder engagement and traceability.
- Maintain the technical integrity of the system baseline throughout its lifecycle.
- Support DoD and other Government Certification and Accreditation processes.
- Assist in developing Joint Capability Integration Development System documents.
- Provide technical direction for systems development and integration.
- Twenty (20) years of experience as an SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Alternatively, 5 years of additional SE experience can substitute for the degree.
- Proficient in Linux Command Line Interface (CLI)
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation
- General knowledge of High-Performance Computing (HPC) components
- Familiarity with Configuration Management and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI)
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible - Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles
- Experience managing large-scale projects, including timelines and resources - Proficient with metrics and monitoring frameworks for data analysis
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence)
- Experience with Git Version Control
