What you will be doing! As a Level 2 Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems. Your work will be based on documented requirements, and you may work both individually and as part of a team. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and testing software components to ensure they meet design requirements, as well as documenting the test results. You will also resolve software problem reports. You will utilize appropriate software development and design methodologies based on the development environment. Additionally, you will provide specific input on system design related to hardware / software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) products instead of developing new solutions. Your role will involve analyzing and synthesizing requirements from the system level down to individual software components. Job Description / Requirements : Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements. Debug existing software and correct defects. Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards. Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments. Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories. Write or review software and system documentation. Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process used on any project. Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces / queries Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards. Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components. Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or engineers, analyzing systems flow, data usage, and work processes, and investigating problem areas. Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance. Design, develop, and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design. Python experience Experience building and deploying Docker containers in a Kubernetes environment Education and Experience : Seven (7) years experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes. Fourteen (14) years’ experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
