What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legislative Associate position at Independent State Agency?
General Responsibilities of Legislative Associate – NYS Assembly Office of Legal Services
· Legislative research: including analyzing legislation and producing bill packs used for floor management;
· Attend committee meetings and public hearings related to specific committee assignments;
· Attend Assembly legislative Sessions and assist in all aspects of floor operations;
· Perform research for floor debates and other floor actions;
· Provide background information and research for Majority Leader requests;
· Perform such other duties as are necessary to the proper operation of this office.
Looking for a reliable and dedicated team player who will join an integral office within the New York State Assembly.
Successful candidate should preferably be proficient in Word and Excel and the ability to learn/become proficient with the Legislative Retrieval System (LRS).
An undergraduate degree is required, and previous legislative experience within the New York State Legislature is preferable.
