What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visualization & Analytics Developer position at Indev?
Indev is seeking a Visualization and Analytics Developer who can support our growing Data Analytics and Visualization business. We are looking for someone in the greater Washington, DC area to play a lead role in 1) developing Indev solutions, and 2) providing consulting services to our clients.
Candidates will work closely with Indev’s Director, Data Analytics and Visualization practice to design and develop solutions to take to market and will provide expertise and implementation support to project teams to implement client solutions. Candidates will also create technical solutions, data storage tools, and conduct tests.
Successful candidates should have a broad understanding of the business technology landscape, ability to design and develop reports, and strong analytical skills to validate results and help clients define their needs.
Indev is seeking candidates with a mix of technical and business experience in mission-oriented environments. We are especially looking for candidates that have worked in DHS and have an active EOD/DHS clearance. This role will be responsible for supporting a wide range of project activities spanning business and technology environments.
This is a part-time role with potential to turn into a full-time opportunity.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Developing, maintaining, and managing advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards and other BI solutions.
- Performing and documenting data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design.
- Recognize business requirements and devise a solution to meet data requirements.
- Reviewing and improving existing systems and collaborating with teams to integrate new systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams and business experts to implement data-driven policies and initiatives throughout the enterprise.
- Designing wireframes and beta dashboards with an emphasis on user experience, consistency, and visibility.
- Create, update, and maintain dashboards and analytics solutions using industry leading tools like Tableau, Qlik, and PowerBI.
- Accurately drill deep into data and generate reports.
- Gather, clean, and prepare data for analytics and visualization.
- Create reports using a variety of graphical and data modelling techniques.
- Conducting unit tests and developing database queries to analyze the effects and troubleshoot any issues.
- Gathering and normalizing data from multiple data sources.
- Create, test, and publish dashboards and reports, as well as schedule refreshes.
- Define access controls and put security measures in place as needed.
- Enhance the whole process of data management, collecting, dashboard design, and product life-cycle management.
- Use algorithms and statistical approaches to extract information from data.
- Troubleshooting any data or performance issues with workbooks and data sources.
- Oversee installations, architecture, and management of solution platforms that can include Tableau, Qlik, and PowerBI.
- Actively control performance and usability to get the desired outcome.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Work independently or under general supervision.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Business, mathematics, computer science, information systems, or other related discipline AND 4 years consulting or IT experience.
- Degree in mathematics, computer science, information systems, or related field.
- A firm grasp of SQL, relational database management systems, data modelling, and standardization.
- Proficiency in use of query and reporting analysis tools.
- Competency in Excel (macros, pivot tables, etc.)
- Extensive experience in developing, maintaining and managing Tableau and Qlik based solutions that include data driven dashboards & analytics.
- Hands on working knowledge of Tableau and Qlik administration/architecture.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven experience supporting executive leadership and high-visibility project.
- Ability to prioritize impeding tasks and meet short-term deadlines.
Additional preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a Federal environment, preferably DHS.
- Existing and active DHS EOD/clearance.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and will be required to pass a government background investigation.
