Position Overview
Index Analytics is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support Government clients in the Baltimore Metro Area. The DevOps Engineer will provide DevOps design, planning, deployment, security, and maintenance support for AWS cloud environments and provide infrastructure support to product/application development team’s software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Will be responsible for helping teams migrate from one organization’s AWS instance to a new organizations AWS instance
- Create/design/develop/manage DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines using open-source and COTS technical solutions
- Provide the necessary support to establish and improve DevSecOps processes such as IaC templates, test automation, CI/CD pipeline and code configuration management.
- Provide production operations support for custom application software running in a 24/7/365 environment.
- Provide the necessary infrastructure and support for Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Test Automation.
- Provide operations and maintenance support to maintain the AWS-cloud based infrastructure setup.
- Provide security engineering guidance and expertise to development and operations.
- Implements practical security improvements and compliance activity in support of the product and program.
- Facilitates security reviews and testing, security scans, and penetration testing
- Ensure work product meets user acceptance criteria
- Manage self-directed assignments
- Meet schedule deadlines and commitments with a high-level of quality of deliverables
- Be a trusted automation and tool advisor for DevSecOps initiatives by providing objective, practical and relevant ideas, insights, and advice
- Recommend and implement industry standards
- Collaborate with a team of cross-functional resources in an Agile delivery environment
Qualifications
- US citizen or Authorized to Work and lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in IT or relevant discipline required.
- 5 years of overall IT experience.
- 3 years of related experience with Production Support
- 2 years of working experience with AWS Cloud or similar cloud platforms and cloud native tool sets.
- Knowledge and experience working with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) AWS infrastructure is desired.
- Hands-on Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, AWS Code Pipeline or similar, GitHub/GitLab or similar and code scanning tools such as SonarQube/Snyk or similar is required.
- Knowledge of and experience delivering solutions that adhere to the AWS well-architected framework.
- Ability to work during non-traditional business hours to support large scale platform that support mission critical applications.
- At least 2 years of experience with IaC tools such as CloudFormation and/or Terraform for DevSecOps.
- “Automation-First” mindset is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Application Monitoring and Logging tools such as CloudWatch, New Relic, Splunk etc.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python is required.
- Experience with AWS MWAA Airflow, Glue infrastructure, and containerization is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Knowledge of security tools and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
- CMS ARS 3.1 controls and security assessments experience preferred.
- Experience with various Linux operating systems and command line operation preferred.
- Knowledge of Agile framework, Scrum methodologies and awareness of productivity tools used to support them is preferred.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are needed for this position.
- Experience designing solutions to monitor and control costs in a cloud consumption model a plus.
- Experience with Databricks a plus.
- Diverse experience across the full software development lifecycle preferred.
- Previous CMS or federal government contracting experience preferred.
The salary range provided represents the estimated compensation for new hires in this position, applicable across all locations. Actual offers may vary based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and market conditions.
