Position Overview

Index Analytics is seeking a Lead Automation Test Engineer to support Government clients in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. Metro Area. The Automation Test Engineer will support the testing of an enterprise environment for a cloud-based platform including for user interface, front-end/back-end development, data exchange/formats and 508-testing.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Lean-Agile environment as a cross-functional test automation leader to plan, develop and execute automated tests
  • Lead Automated Test implementation by adding repeatable quantitative measures for critical user and data paths. Quality measures include overall test coverage, required product performance and load metrics and minimization of defects escaped to production regression, end-to-end testing.
  • Develop automated scripts for data seeding in preparation for testing in various environments, as well as, reset/rollback of test data in preparation of subsequent test executions.
  • Lead in test planning – test approaches, tool recommendations, and training of team members as necessary to improve the overall product quality via test case coverage, testing productivity and effectiveness of other test team members.
  • Develop consistent, reusable, and reliable methods for automated testing
  • Engineer, author, tune, and document automation scripts in all product environments - development, test/implementation and production.
  • Coordinate, as necessary, test activities outside the direct team with entities such as data providers/vendors, cross-agency groups/products or other entities as needed to ensure high quality of product
  • Apply consistent, reusable, and reliable automated testing methods
  • Execute system level tests using published procedures
  • Participate in all aspects of solution delivery life cycle including analysis, design, development, testing, production deployment, and support
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and enhance test plans, test scripts and test methodologies to ensure compliance with system specifications
  • Ensure coordination with the development team to verify all bug fixes are checked in, each environment is stable and ready for use, customer communication is ongoing and open, and releases are properly tested, documented, and validated
  • Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards.


Qualifications

  • US citizen, or lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years and able to qualify for a Public Trust clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or relevant discipline required with a minimum of 8 years of experience OR a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience. Four years of specialized experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 years IT experience, including a minimum of 3 years of automated testing experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in automating product quality checks and building quality via CI/CD strongly preferred
  • Experience automating manual tests, environment setup, and deployment processes using technologies such as Cucumber, Java, Jenkins, Python, or Provar (or similar selenium-based tool)
  • Experience with performance and load testing automated tools such as Load Runner, JMeter, New Relic, etc.
  • Experience with UI automation tools such as Playwright or Selenium
  • Experience maintaining test results and regular reporting on test effectiveness including test performance, bugs found
  • Proficient and swift with scripting and must have advanced writing and testing skills using automation principals strongly preferred
  • Must possess strong knowledge and understanding of systems engineering principles, including system design and architecture, software interface definition and control, software integration, and test.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication required
  • Prior experience leading a test group/team of 5 people is a plus
  • Prior experience with the Center for Medicare Medicaid Services or other Govt agencies is a plus
  • Experience in using tools such as JAWS, ANDI, and Color Contrast Analyzer for testing


The salary range provided represents the estimated compensation for new hires in this position, applicable across all locations. Actual offers may vary based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and market conditions. Lead Automation Test Engineer
