What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Coordinator position at INDEX FRESH INC?
Summary/Objective
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for all shipment planning. Works cooperatively and cross-functionally with other team members in sales, operations, accounting and third party warehouses to ensure commitments are met.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to the Index Fresh values.
- Manages accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks to ensure that the flow of product in and out meets customer demands.
- Monitors shipments from pickup through delivery so that accurate, up-to-date information can be provided regarding any shipment.
- Develops and manages transportation provider benchmark system to measure service levels.
- Receives and processes transportation requirement requests from customers.
- Participates in Logistics special projects by managing new initiatives as they arise.
- Develops and manages daily, weekly and monthly statistics.
- Monitors benchmarks and identifies trends and problems and develops solutions for achieving desired performance.
- Analyzes issues presented, applies critical thinking to draw conclusions, and develops creative solutions.
- Filing and administrative duties as required.
- Responsible for placing shipper on notice of approval or rejections.
- Initiates overcharge/undercharge freight bill claims with carriers and track reconciliation of the same regulatory standards.
- Manages and re-routes freight as needed to meet demands and minimize cost.
- Provides exceptional customer service by developing good working relationships with carriers and customers.
- Proactively handles customer shipment routing requests.
- Verifies inventory locations and availability for shipment against requirement specified in purchase and stock transfer orders
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
