    POSITION:
    Assistant Director for Adult Health Careers

    RESPONSIBLE TO:
    Director for Adult Health Careers

    QUALIFICATIONS
    EDUCATION:
    • Master’s degree in area related to health careers/health occupations and/or master’s degree with experience teaching or related experience in allied health education programs.
    • If assigned to coordinate the nursing program, the following additional criteria will be required:

    (1) is a Registered Nurse with a current unencumbered registered nurse license in Oklahoma;
    (2) has a baccalaureate degree in nursing, and effective January 1, 2017, has evidence of continued progress toward a graduate degree in nursing with completion of a minimum of six (6) hours per year, PROVIDED: any person employed in the position of administrator of a practical nursing education program on December 31, 2016, is deemed to meet this requirement.
    • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma & Arkansas.
    • If ACEN Accreditation pursued a master’s degree in nursing will be required.

    CERTIFICATION:
    Licensed in area of professional practice (health)

    EXPERIENCE:
    • Experience teaching or other related experience in a nursing or allied health program.
    • If assigned to coordinate the nursing program shall also meet the following qualifications:
    • have a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting; and
    • have at least one (1) academic year, full-time experience as a teacher in a nursing education program.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
    • Provide leadership and organization for adult health career programs and assist the Direct for Adult Health Careers to
    • manage department/campus needs.
    • Serve as an instructional leader for adult health career programs within the ICTC district.
    • May be assigned to supervise the nursing program if qualified.

    MAJOR DUTIES:
    GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
    • Responsible for assisting in the administration and supervision of adult health career programs in the district under the direction of the Director for Adult Health Careers, while working with campus directors to meet needs at each site.
    • If meets qualifications to coordinate nursing program, will do the following:
    • Schedule, conduct and/or assist the director with nursing faculty meetings, maintaining meeting minutes systematic program evaluation plan for the practical nursing program
    • Work with the director to maintain PN program approval with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and other accreditation/approval agencies as applicable.
    • Keep informed of laws, rules, regulations, and accreditation standards affecting ICTC, nursing education, and other adult health career programs.
    • Assist in defining short-range and long-rage goals and objectives for adult health career programs, as well as formulating plans for recommendations to the Director for Adult Health Careers.
    • Assist in identifying, preparing, evaluating, and disseminating pertinent information to the Director for Adult Health Careers, Campus Directors, Superintendent, and other employees.
    • Prepare and support the preparation and submission of reports and other documents required by ICTC, Oklahoma Department of Career Tech, as well as regulatory and accrediting bodies that govern nursing and adult health career programs in the ICTC district.
    • Develop and support the development of proposals for special funding of projects related to other adult health career programs.
    • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
    • Oversee and implement student application process.
    • Assist in maintaining appropriate program/applicant/student/graduate records and data.
    • Work with the Director for Adult Health Careers to conduct regular meetings with staff who are under his/her supervision.
    • Work with the Director for Adult Health Careers to perform other duties and complete projects as required.

    CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
    • Assist Director for Adult Health Careers in the development and implementation, evaluation, and use of competency based instructional materials and methods to be used in adult health career programs.
    • Work cooperatively to monitor and assess instructional programs and instructional support services for the purpose of evaluation and planning within the ICTC district.
    • Work with the Director for Adult Health Careers to implement advisory committee recommendations for adult health career programs.
    • Meet with patrons and students to explain policies and procedures as appropriate.

    BUDGETING AND PURCHASING
    • Assist in the preparation and administration of a budget for adult health career programs.
    • Assist with development of long-term and short-term purchase plans that align with instructional and program goals.
    • If qualified to supervise the nursing program, a primary responsibility will be on purchase planning and budget preparation for the nursing program.



    PERSONNEL
    • Assist with the recruitment, appointment, and employment of qualified personnel for adult health career programs as needed, while working cooperatively with the Director for Adult Health Careers, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent.
    • Assist in the evaluation of faculty as assigned by the Director for Adult Health Careers. If qualified to coordinate the nursing program, a primary responsibility will be the evaluation of nursing faculty.
    • Participate in annual evaluation of his/her own performance with the Director for Adult Health Careers.

    PUBLIC RELATIONS
    Assist in maintaining both within and outside the school, a program of public relations as may serve to promote understanding and maintain morale with the school and keep the public informed as to the activities, needs and successes of Adult Health Career education at ICTC.


    PROFESSIONAL RELATIONS
    • Maintain a line of communication and work cooperatively with instructors, administrators, and staff.
    • Maintain professional competence through participation in professional and civic activities.
    • Maintain communication with health care and other related agencies in the communities served by ICTC.
    • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with staff at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.




    OTHER
    Performs other duties, assumes other responsibilities, and exercises authority as may be required by the Director for Adult Health Careers, Superintendent, or ICTC Board of Education.


    DEPENDABILITY:
    • Regular attendance following a designated work schedule.
    • Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
    • Must be able to attend and participate in meetings/conferences as scheduled within the district, state, and other states.
    • Meetings/conferences may require overnight trips.
    • Will be required to travel between ICTC campuses to perform job duties at satellite campuses.
    • Adhere to professional code of ethics.

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL STANDARDS:
    • Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate varied documents, textbooks, reference materials, and models.
    • Ability to speak clearly.
    • Ability to freely move arms and fingers in order to manipulate required equipment.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and to move around the office, classroom/lab/clinical areas as required by the nature of the job.
    • Requires stooping, bending, pulling, and lifting.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to a four-foot level.
    • Ability to operate a four-wheel vehicle in order to travel.

    EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
    • Moderate to extreme.
    • Must deal with multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Must periodically submit required reports within short time periods and meet deadlines.
