Clinical Specialist - Full Time
Monday - Friday
8am -4pm
The Clinical Specialist is an experienced medical support professional who has a background working with adults with developmental disabilities or in a long-term care facility. In this role, you will assist physicians, nurses, and patients with medical needs in preparation for, during, and following appointments for participants in our Residential program.
Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, lab work and pharmacy processing, direct patient support, preparing paperwork, and assisting medical staff during appointments. The Clinical Specialist is a detail-oriented and highly organized individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team
Requirements:
Education/Training:
- High School Diploma; GED; Preferred certification as Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical exam and drug test as required.
- Completion and clearance of a criminal background check and child abuse clearance.
- Valid driver’s license with a proven clear three-year driving record.
- Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
Skill(s):
- Ability to read and write in English, moderate mathematics skills required;
- Strong, proficient interpersonal relations and verbal/written communication skills; auditory and visual skills
- Highly organized, motivated and able to work independently and as a team member
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the physical duties required of Direct Care Worker. Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in providing various care; and operate an vehicle. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including transferring of client.
Experience: Previous experience providing hands-on care to adults with developmental disability or adults in a Long-Term Care Facility required. One year of experience in a physician practice or clinic setting preferred. Preferred experience with an Electronic Medical Record System. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred.

Essential Duties
- Facilitate with outside providers the scheduling of specialty clinics in Health &Wellness Center.
- Prepare paperwork for specialty clinics (podiatry, dental, and vision) in H&W Ctr.
- Copy completed paperwork from specialty appointments and distribute to appropriate nurse.
- Schedule vision, dental, and podiatry appts for Residential/CBS clients.
- Schedule annual physicals for Residential clients.
- Prepare psychotropic medication review form for Residential/CBS clients.
- Track inventory of medical supplies in Clinic, H&W Center, and re‑order supplies as needed.
- Prepare and distribute paperwork for scanning.
- Send incontinence supply order to Pharmacy monthly.
- Coordinate disposal of medical waste.
- Dispose of medications and blister cards monthly and as needed.
- Coordinate and complete paperwork for annual dental rehab appts.
- Schedule all clinic appts and update Credible schedule daily.
- Escort clients to exam room.
- Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas; keep all areas neat and clean.
- Prepare client for and assist with nursing assessments.
- Obtain diagnostic and lab results as requested.
- Assist Health Care Provider during examinations as needed.
- Clean instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Obtain vital signs and weights for clients as requested by Nursing; record in Credible.
- Maintain the confidentiality of client information.
- Follow universal precautions to protect self and clients.
- Schedule medical appts (also includes outpatient diagnostic testing) for Residential/CBS clients (excludes vision, podiatry, dental and physicals).
- Arrange lab work with Atlantic Diagnostic Labs on a weekly basis; arrange other lab work as needed. Meet ADL phlebotomist at group homes to assist as necessary.
- Prepare appt paperwork from Credible schedule for program nurse to complete prior to appt.
- Maintain insurance claims file for Residential/CBS clients. Provide Associate Director of Residential with client billing info and insurance updates.
- Take clients to outside appts as needed.
- Follow universal precautions to protect self and clients.
- Maintain the confidentiality of client information.
- Provide coverage for Clinical Specialist I position as needed.
