Job Summary
The Outpatient Clinician leads individual, family and group psychotherapy for the Indian Creek Foundation’s Outpatient Center. In this role, you will apply your combined experience in mental health and in working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to provide a high-quality level of care. As a clinician within the Outpatient Center, you will use your expertise in therapy modalities, research of best practices for consumers with autism or intellectual disabilities, and clinical compliance. The Outpatient Clinician should be highly organized, adaptable to working within a team, able to work with individuals of varying abilities, and committed to providing high quality care for individuals seeking services within the Outpatient Center.
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field. Active Pennsylvania State License as a Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Psychologist. Accepted for credentialing with Medicare and Health Choices within 3 months of employment.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the mental health field.

Physical Requirements
- Bend, stoop, sit, stand, and reach

Equipment/Machine Operations
Must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the following equipment and machines used in the performance of this job:
- Computer (must be proficient in the use of email and Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Office equipment – including printer, scanner, fax machine, copier, etc.
- Various other equipment and supplies
Essential Duties
- Provide individual, family and group psychotherapy to consumers in the Outpatient Center.
- Build strong therapeutic relationships with consumers.
- Ensure treatment is goal focused.
- Monitor progress of consumers.
- Evaluate ongoing needs of consumers and make referrals as necessary.
- Coordinate treatment with other members of the Outpatient team, including the Outpatient Coordinator and Psychiatrist.
- Review Utilization Review recommendations with Coordinator and make changes as necessary.
- Seek to enhance ability to provide a milieu of therapeutic models, such as trauma specific treatment models, psycho-educational models, and cognitive behavioral therapies.
- Maintain an average of 70% billable hours, pending circumstances beyond therapist’s control such as insufficient caseload or no shows.
- Reschedule cancelled appointments to the extent possible to maximize billable hours.
- Submit billing in a timely manner.
- Provide leadership within the Outpatient Program.
- Initiate new groups to meet the needs of consumers of the Outpatient Center.
- Research and implement evidence based practices for consumers with autism or intellectual disabilities.
- Build relationships with community members or other providers of services and make referrals for additional services or supports as needed.
- Assist with marketing of outpatient services.
- Participate in ensuring clinical compliance.
- Assist with completion of medication management only treatment plans once quarterly.
- Evaluate progress notes, treatment plans, and biopsychosocial assessments to ensure that they possess sufficient detail.
- Conduct intake evaluations.
- Work with Outpatient Coordinator to ensure that necessary paperwork is present in charts in a timely manner.
- Participate in quarterly internal audits.
- Demonstrate initiative in developing new procedures to improve outpatient program.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing policies and procedures in the Outpatient policy and procedure manual.
Other Duties
- Assist the Coordinator with various administrative tasks to support department operations as directed; may also be assigned special projects.
- Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.
- Attends training as required by program/department.
- Maintain current training certifications/licenses as needed for programs.
- Participates in special projects as requested.
Standard Requirements
- Completion and clearance of a criminal background check and a child abuse clearance.

- Complete all documentation to ensure compliance with all regulations and agency policies.
- Exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Conduct in performance of their duties.
- Completes annual compliance HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in performance of duties.
